Animation studies begin with a strong foundation in design, drawing, color, 3-D animation, and video game production. As they advance, students learn to develop a storyboard, create and animate 3-D models, and develop background layouts and special effects. Students learn to work in production environments and to market themselves and their skills. As part of their course work, all students develop a demo reel to show prospective employers. This program is designed to assist students’ entry into careers in the game, film and television production industries, which currently embraces animators, modelers, texture artists, and lighting and special effects specialists. Computer Graphic DesignComputer Graphic Design students learn design fundamentals, lettering and typography, graphic design, 3D computer modeling and animation. Students create color composites and renderings and are introduced to using computer applications and sophisticated software as design tools. Students use these tools to create high quality layouts and designs for print and web. Students put on an Art Show towards the end of their program to give them an opportunity to display their work to prospective employers. Community Services Workers provide many types of assistance to people in the community, from determining eligibility for social assistance and health programs and counseling on child care to helping clients with physical and mental problems and those involved in drug and substance abuse. Students are prepared to write certificate exams for: - First Aid and CPR - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - A.S.I.S.T. (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Herzing College offers a one-year diploma program that includes a two-month internship to gain work experience. Medical Office AdministratorThis Program provides an overview of clinical office principals, practices, and operations with focus on developing clinical office assistant skills. Areas of study include medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, clinical procedures, clinical office procedures, computer applications such as spreadsheets, presentations, databases and word processing, as well as clinical office scheduling and billing software. This program includes Guest Speakers and students go on a “backstage tour” of St. Michael’s Hospital and the Queen Street Mental Health Facility. Herzing College offers a 10-month diploma program that includes a 6 week internship to gain work experience. Network Systems TechnologyThrough both theory classes and laboratory exercises, students will acquire the skills and competencies needed to install, configure and maintain computers, workstations and network operating systems such as Windows and UNIX; install and administer networks and Internet/Extranet services such as Web servers and Electronic Mail. If you support a network, you have to support all aspects including the hardware. We’ve recognized that fact and our program includes a CompTIA approved course on computer hardware and troubleshooting. Studying at Herzing not only means having access to well-equipped labs, but also to qualified and competent instructors. Students are prepared to write industry certification exams for A+, MCSE 2003, Project+ Project Management, Cisco CCNA, Wireless and includes UNIX administration. Oracle 10g Database Administrator - CertificationStudents are prepared with lectures and labs to write the 2 certification exams for the Oracle 10g Administrator (OCA and OCP).
The Financial Services Representative program covers many areas. Working directly with clients there are varied services and products that you will be responsible for. Employers in banks, insurance companies, investment firms and brokerage houses do look for the same skill sets. As a Financial Services Representative (FSR), your focus will be to provide the right solutions – plans that meet the many financial needs of both established and new customers – by opening new accounts, offering credit and basic investment counseling, and promoting all financial products and services. Herzing College has partnered with the Institute of Canadian Bankers and offers a one-year diploma program that includes a two-month internship to gain work experience. This program prepares students to write the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) certification exam to allow them to sell Mutual Funds. This program provides an overview of legal principles and procedures. Areas of study include legal office procedures, legal theory, and the practice and application of legal assistant responsibilities. Herzing College’s program is completely hands-on and students learn to complete documents to the extent that they could be presented to a lawyer. Graduates have a strong portfolio to show potential employers. Many of our Legal Assistant graduates are hired at Law Clerks. Herzing College offers a 9-month diploma program that includes a one-month Internship to gain work experience. ParalegalThis program provides an overview of legal principles, practices and procedures. Areas of study include law office procedures, word processing, legal theory and the practical application of the law in various law settings. Paralegals will also learn how to represent clients in Small Claims Court. Herzing College’s Paralegal program has been approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for the Law Society under Bill 14. Graduates may choose to work in a law firm or establish their own Paralegal practice once they have passed the exam through the Law Society to become a licensed Paralegal. Pharmacy Assistants play an important role in providing essential health care services in their communities. They order and receive medications and pharmaceutical supplies. They utilize specialized software to maintain patient profiles, prescription orders, and inventories. Pharmacy Assistants compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring, and mixing the quantities of drugs and other ingredients required. They assist pharmacists by ordering, packaging and labeling pharmaceutical products and by maintaining prescription records and inventories of medication and pharmaceutical products. Working with the registered Pharmacist, pharmacy Assistants demonstrate tact and excellent judgment to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. Upon graduation, Pharmacy Assistants can work in either a community, clinic or hospital pharmacy. Job opportunities also exist in government health departments, insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Some common job titles include: pharmacy Assistants, pharmacy technical assistant, and pharmacy aide. Students take their First Aid and CPR certificate course. Herzing College offers a one-year diploma program that includes a two-month practical placement to gain work experience.
