HealthcareCommunity Health CareAn intensive program designed to prepare you for such positions as Long-Term Care Aide (geriatric), Home Support Healthcare worker, Resident Care Attendant, Nurse’s Aid and Special Needs Assistant.
The excellent training provided by highly qualified instructors, and the experience acquired during the seven weeks of practicum will equip you with the knowledge and confidence for a career in Care Giving. Each student will complete a three-week practicum in the community and a four-week practicum in a long-term care facility to give them the hands-on experience that is crucial to getting a job.
With a comprehensive approach to community healthcare, students become familiar with development disorders and the basic principals involved in special education within schools. Medical Office AssistantIn the Medical Office Assistant Program, you will learn basic medical terminology and pharmacology, and be trained to prepare and administer basic medical office tests.

In the Resident Care Attendant program, you will study anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. You will learn about chronic medical conditions, interpersonal relations and communications, as well as human growth and development. You will also gain a solid foundation in specific areas such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, death and dying, and patient support networks. You will receive certification in First Aid, CPR, BC FoodSafe, and WHMIS training. In addition, you will complete three-weeks of clinical training in intermediate care and four-weeks of clinical training in an extended care facility to gain hands-on experience in the field.
As a graduate of the Resident Care Attendant program, you will be prepared to care for clients with special needs and to function collaboratively as members of a multidisciplinary health care team. EducationEarly Childhood Education ECEIf you love working with children, our Early Childhood Education program will provide you with an excellent introduction to a rewarding career.
You will study interpersonal communications, childhood development, behavior management and program planning. In addition, you'll learn teaching strategies that use drama, math, science, play and arts and crafts. You will also receive First Aid and CPR certifications as well. As part of this program, you will observe experienced Early Childhood Educators in the field and then apply your newly developed skills during eight weeks of practicum.
After completion of the coursework, you must gain an additional 500 hours of field experience required for licensing. Upon completion of the first ECE module, you can apply for an assessment letter to become an Assistant through the Early Childhood Education Registry. As you train, you can also work or volunteer part-time to complete the required hours.
Upon graduation from the Early Childhood Education program, you will find employment opportunities exist in day care centers, preschools, nursery schools, integrated day cares and family service centres.

The Paralegal Assistant program provides a broad overview of the Canadian legal system, Legal Professional Act and Rules of the Law Society of BC. Students will learn about intellectual property, estates planning, and credit and collection procedures.
Other major topics include family law, real estate law, criminal law, commercial law, corporate law and insurance law. Students will also master legal office procedures and documentation as well as methods for legal research and interviewing.
